You have to fall in love with technology although sometimes it can be scary. I love the way the computer transfers your photos to the glass of the work bench and the communication is still maintained with the mobile phone. We probably can just remember the first edition of the mobile phone with its battery in a separate carry bag. Then it developed to the brick, where now we see it as a see through glass application. I have found a photograph of me in one of our homes, taken in 1953 and now “Would you ask your kids to live like that” and just imagine asking a newly married couple to live in a house like that these days. No electricity, no Television. No phones, kerosene powered refrigerators. Yet we survived, to wonder at the marvels of today.

Welcome to the digital age.  Well, I have just come into the 21st century, yes I have just got myself a new phone, not just any phone,  but an iPhone 4.  It does everything except wash the dishes or so I have been told.  No buttons to bush, just a touch screen.  But where do I add my contacts,  I asked myself.  It finally got the better of me and off to the phone shop for assistance.  The shop lady,  said there  is a second screen, page two.  I said to myself, why would you do that.  You guessed it, I had a few stops at the local phone shops with questions, where do I find this, how does this work and so on.

As they say, one step at a time.  A few days later I received a phone call from the internet provider asking if I would like to take up the offer of a lesson on how to use the phone, so a time and date at my convenience was arranged.  The young lady went through the process of explaining the different functions of the phone.  It is just more than a phone, I can transfer information from my computer to my phone, connect to the internet, take photos and transfer them to my computer.  As it so happens, my faithful digital camera has packed it in and I was deciding whether to buy a new camera.  Well you guessed it, I can use my phone.

The lesson with my phone was certainly well worth the time and if you don’t think I have not told people that I was having lessons on how to use my phone and the great support and service I received, you are mistaken.  The only consistent thing in life is change.  For many of us, whether you are involved in a traditional business, multi-level marketing or online business, what we started out with will never stay the same.  A good friend of mine, reminds me with this quote, “What you have today is the worse it will ever be”.

In the digital world what you started out with will not be what you have today.  Change is evolving at a rapid pace.The digital age is evolving and social media or as some prefer to call it, the recommendation age has changed the way many of us do business.  Like my experience with the iPhone, providing a support and service will help you stay in front of other businesses.  However, it is also up to you to stay in touch with the changes in your business.  I took the initiative to ask questions, look for information and was rewarded with gaining knowledge.

Many businesses provide emails or newsletters, providing you with information on the changes and benefits.  My experience in the past that several people will contact you at a later date and say what is going on, I can’t find the information, why have they changed this or that.  You have invested money and time in your business, take the time to keep up to date and when the support is offered, take advantage of this service.  What you have today, will be the worst it will ever be.

Millionaires have more in common with each other than just their bank accounts – for some millionaires, striking it rich took courage, salesmanship, vision and passion. Find out which traits are most common to the seven-figure bank account set, and what you can do to hone some of these skills in your own life.

1. Independent thinking

Millionaires think differently. Not just about money, about everything. The time and energy everybody else spends attempting to conform, millionaires spend creating their own path. Since thoughts impact actions, people who want to be wealthy should think in a way that will get them to that goal.

Independent thinking doesn’t mean doing the opposite of what the rest of the world is doing; it means having the courage to follow what is important to you. So, the lesson here is to forge your own way, and let your success drive you to financial spoils – rather than doing it the other way around and trying to chase the money.

Just look at David Geffen. A self-made millionaire with US$4.5 billion to his name in 2009, this American record executive and film producer was college dropout, but made millions founding record agencies and signed some of the most prominent musicians of the 1970s and ’80s. Although he didn’t take what many assume to be the usual path to success, his tireless work ethic and sense of personal conviction about artists’ potential allowed him to rack up a sizable fortune.

2. Vision

Millionaires are creative visionaries with a positive attitude. In other words, wealthy people not only have big dreams, they also believe they will come true. As such, wealth seekers should set lofty goals and not be afraid of uncharted territories.

Bill Gates, the world’s richest person in 2009, did just that. The chairman of Microsoft is one of the founding entrepreneurs who brought personal computers to the masses. Gates jumped into the personal computers business in 1975 and held on tight, creating Microsoft Windows in 1985. When consumers began to bring computers into their homes, Gates was ready to profit from this new age.

3. Skills

Writer Dennis Kimbro interviewed successful people to determine the traits they had in common for his book, Think and Grow Rich. He found that they concentrated on their area of excellence. Millionaires also tend to partner with others to supplement their weaker skills. If you don’t know what you are good at, poll friends and family. Use training and mentors to refine your strong skills.

4. Passion

Billionaire investing guru Warren Buffett says “Money is a by-product of something I like to do very much.” Enjoying your work allows you to have the discipline to work hard at it every day. People who interact with money for a living, bankers for example, often love creating new deals and persuading others to complete a transaction.

But finding your dream job may take time. The average millionaire doesn’t find it until age 45, and tends to be 54 (on average) before becoming a millionaire. Kimbro found that millionaires tried an average of 17 ventures before they were successful. So, if you want to be rich, stop doing things you don’t enjoy and do what you love. If you don’t know what you love, try a few things and keep trying until you hit on the right thing.

5. Investment

Millionaires are willing to sacrifice time and money to achieve their goals. They are willing to take a risk now for the opportunity of achieving something greater in the future. Investing may include securities or starting a business – either way, it is a step toward achieving great financial rewards. Start investing now.

6. Salesmanship

Millionaires are constantly presenting their ideas and persuading others to buy into them. Good salesmen are oblivious to critics and naysayers. In other words, they don’t take “no” for an answer. Millionaires also have good social skills. In fact, when writer T. Harv Eker analysed the results of a survey of 753 millionaires for his book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, he found social skills were more important than IQ.

Just look at Donald Trump. His fortune has fluctuated over the years, but his ability to sell himself – whether as a TV personality or as the force behind a line of neckties – has always brought him back among the ranks of celebrity millionaires.

The ability to communicate with people is essential to selling your idea. Contrary to the traditional view of salesmen, millionaires cite honesty as an important factor in their success. If you want to be a millionaire, be an honest salesman and polish your social skills.

The bottom line

Becoming a millionaire is not a goal that can be achieved overnight for most people. In fact, many of the world’s richest people built their wealth over many years (sometimes even generations) by making smart but often bold decisions, putting their skills to the best use possible and doggedly pursuing their vision.

If you can learn anything about millionaires, it’s that for many of them, their riches are not necessarily what most sets them apart from the rest of the world – it’s what they did to earn those millions that really stands out.

No one can cheat you out of success or happiness but you.  The power to succeed or fail is yours.  More powerful then all the success slogans ever written is the realization that everyone has but one boss.  That boss is you.  Your life will always be what you make of it.

This is your Business.  For those who are relatively new to the Mulit-Level Marketing or Network Marketing you must remember this is your Business.  People join MLM or a Business Opportunity through a friend, business acquaintance or even searching online.  Many do their research, either by trialing the product, the benefits financially and the support and training the company provides.  The decision is made, you join.  The person who signed you up or in MLM terms, your upline offers guidance and support.  Everything seems to be going well.  You also have recruited people and in MLM terms, have downline.  They in turn look for guidance and support.

What I have seen happen in the past and will continue is that many people who join the business start relying on their upline for everything.  In many cases, the company will send out newsletters, provide information on the internet and often having meetings for you to intend.  But like many, often you find it easier to just ask your upline.  This is sometimes where things can go wrong.

For some unknown reason your upline has decided to have time out and some may even quit.  The information and resources your upline was providing has now stopped.  Your downline is looking to you for guidance and information.  What do you do?  I say to many, it does not matter what your upline has done, nothing has changed, this business is from you down.  Take control, step up to the plate, be the leader.  You have people join because they have a relationship with you, not your upline.

This is your business.  You are building it from you down, not you up.
