Opportunity Meeting

by Les Prosser on June 7, 2010

Opportunity MeetingWhen would you like to retire?  Lets talk about when would you like to retire.  Imagine for a moment that you picked up a distributor, you drove him/her to the opportunity meeting and you get there 10 minutes early.  You sit in the 3rd row and he/she is sitting next to you.  A brand new distributor prospect here and he is staring straight ahead waiting for the meeting to start.  For the next 10 minutes what is your prospect thinking?

“Why am I here”.  “I bet they are going to ask me to sell something or buy something.  They are going to ask me for money at the end.  How did I get conned into coming to this opportunity meeting.  Why didn’t I just turn out the lights, lay flat on the floor and they wouldn’t have seen me to pick me up.  How do I get out, what sort of excuses can I use”.

Are these the types of thoughts that come across your prospect and when the meeting starts, your prospect is probably at their most negative, low thoughts and then the meeting starts by saying.

“Let me tell you about the insecurity of the corporate world.  What can we do about this, what can we do to make it easier.  Network marketing has two really neat benefits, one is time freedom, the other is money freedom.  These benefits are what people need to sit and ponder and once they do they say how.”

Network marketing can get me something nothing else can: however do we give them a chance to ponder and think about these things.  No!  We rush into the opportunity meeting without giving the prospect a chance to think what time freedom or money freedom can do them.

What we need to do is “Slow it down”  Until the prospect can see what time and money freedom can do for them.  So what we can do is 10 minutes before the meeting starts, we can give them a form like the one below and say “Hey, here is something you can fill out.  It’s for your own personal use.  No one else is going to see it and it might give you some ideas of what we are going to be covering during the meeting tonight:.

Question 1.  When would you like to retire?

Question 2.  How much money do you need monthly to retire comfortably?

$2,000               $3,000               $4,000               $5,000               $6,000

$7,000               $8,000               $9,000              $10,000              $11,000

(Circle the one above that suits you)

How much money do you need to invest at 6.00% return to obtain your desired income?

Take you answer from question 2 and multiply by 200.  $__________ x 200 = $__________

This is how much money you need to have at the bank at 6% interest.

Question 3.  What is your plan to accumulate this money?
