Systems and Duplication

by Les Prosser on May 28, 2010

Duplication and SystemsDuplication, (have you heard in order to be successful you must duplicate) you must have a duplicable system.

Humans by their very nature always want to find the ultimate truth that always works 100% of the time, 100% of the cases, 100% of the circumstances and works for everybody and we want people to be exactly like us and that is how we think as humans, we want everyone to do the business exactly like we do and we don’t want people to take advantage of their natural talents or natural advantages or natural skills.  We want them to follow a certain system.

Let’s investigate this.  We have a lady name Sandy and Sandy is one of the most outgoing vicarious and most friendly lady you have very meet.  You say “Hi” to Sandy and she comes and hugs you and in 3 seconds you know her, trust her, give her your wallet, she is the type of person, the bubbly type of personality creating relationships instantly.  So Sandy’s system is this – Sandy takes you to the local mall and all day long she is running up and down the mall bumping into people, knocking over their packages, picking them up and saying to these people you should get in network marketing and then she goes to the check out lady, stop serving those customers let me show you this flip chart, this is way more important, and she signs up people all day long.  Because she has the personality, that is her system.

The next day, you and her drive to another mall.  You jump out of the car and you notice that she is still sitting in the car.  You say to Sandy, “Aren’t you coming”, she replies “No, today you are on your own.”  Now how many people would feel comfortable about bumping into people accosting them in the mall for prospecting.  Anyone?  Very few of us, that was Sandy’s system.  You couldn’t do it and you would probably quit.  If you were forced to do it, it would be so unpleasant for you that you would probably quit.

Some people hate the phone, so much that when talking to a prospect on the phone, both the prospect and the distributor will quit.  Some people phone skills are bad. What if your system is to mail a package and then follow up by phone?  Some people will quit.  How would you feel if some of your down line hated the phone, wouldn’t that be a travesty to have those people quit.  Throwing away people like that.  Say a lady name Kaye loves ladies lunches and speaks to her friends at these lunches, does that disallow other males who can’t present at ladies lunches.

So how many people here should reconsider this duplication thing, how about doing this.  Maybe we should reword this to say “you don’t have to duplicate the activity.  You should simply duplicate the results and also you want to sponsor people and make them successful”.

Some people want to build there business by the “World Wide Web”, that’s OK.

Some people want to build there business by “Breakfast clubs”, that’s OK.

Some people want to build there business by “Telephone”, that’s OK.

Some people want to build there business by “Person to person”, “mail order”, “party plan”, any way they want to make the original contact, that’s OK.

All you want to duplicate is the result.  So what we need to do is find what we are best at and then find out how to build you business better.  Our job as leaders is to find out the best way, the most comfortable so our distributors can use there natural advantages to their best ability.  You might find half your distributors need a system to start developing their business, and will use the system provided while the other half of the people might say, “I am not comfortable with that” or “I can’t afford that way”.  Don’t throw them out of your business, accept that they have natural advantages and they can do it a different way.

Hi Les & Sharon,
I absolutely agree, we are all individuals and we are all good at doing things in our own way. I always say, ‘get the information required to do the job, then add your own flavor to it’. We aren’t at our best when we’re trying to be someone else, we excel at being ourselves. Thanks for sharing this great post guys.
I look forward to catching up with you both again.
Cheers
Toni
